In 1998, after the devastating floods of the Yangtze River, a house collapsed in the shantytown "Xiahe Street" in Jiangcheng, an important town in central China. Police officer Chen Jianguo memorized the faces of two children in front of the ruins - a taciturn boy and an unusually quiet girl. There was a brick-and-mortar distance between them, and they didn't say a word the whole time.
They never looked at each other, never talked, and never left any words to each other.
But the flow of the river, the fate of the city, and all the bizarre deaths in those years are all related to these two people who have never met.
The river wind blew from 1998 and blew through all the lighted windows.
No one knows that some lights are lit for people in darkness.
They never speak.
But every silent underground river in the city leads to the same exit.
