Shen Yan’s livestream usually has three viewers: himself, Da Liu, and a phone. Well, the phone counts as one.
His younger sister has kidney failure, and the surgery costs 400,000 yuan. He plans to film a fake video in an abandoned building to make some money, but a real ghost shows up, along with a century-old ghost who loves singing opera. The audience is the stage, and the more people watch, the stronger he becomes.
After signing the contract, the System comes online with a ding:
[Main Quest: Gain 10,000 followers within three days]
[Side Quest: Before going live, look into the camera and shout “I’m a total noob” three times]
[Reward for completion: Popularity +500 | Penalty for refusal: Emotional Conversion Rate -10%]
Shen Yan: “Can I refuse?”
System: [No.]
Shen Yan: “Do my three viewers even count as people?”
System: [They count.]
And so, the internet’s most absurd streamer is born: he livestreams real ghosts and exposes fakes; he flashes a peace sign at supernatural disaster scenes; and before a life-or-death showdown, the System forces him to call the top donor and sing “Tantan” together.
Viewers: All here for the laughs.
Comments: [Sacrifice yourself for the comments] [Streamer: People shouldn’t do this. At least, they really shouldn’t.]
Popularity: Up.
Backlash: Here too. Borrowing ghostly power leaves him covered in injuries, which can be healed with popularity points. But each treatment delays his breakthrough by a day. The more he fights, the poorer he gets, and the poorer he gets, the more stunts he has to pull.
The internet’s number-one fake-video streamer refuses to accept defeat and challenges him to a PK at a mass grave. In a hollow between the hills, a coffin stands upright all by itself.
Comments: [Coffin: I didn’t do it. I wasn’t even there. Don’t make things up.]
Yan’s Army: Let’s make this old man famous for once!
Shen Yan: “Folks, we’re coming out ahead on this one. System, delete that line.”
System: [Recorded and sent to everyone.]
