This is a city lit by gaslight. It looks peaceful and peaceful on the surface, but someone is quietly disappearing in the dark.
Private detective Liak received an unusual commission: Mrs. Hadley from the east side of the city was missing. Her husband was unwilling to call the police and asked him to find someone quietly. But when he walked into the bedroom, he found that all the mirrors were covered with white cloth layer by layer, like bandaging wounds. Before his disappearance, his wife said that there was something in the mirror that would look at her at night.
Immediately afterwards, he uncovered four identical cases of missing ladies in the past year. They both lived in the east of the city, both were looking forward to having children, and they both frequented the same tailor shop before they disappeared. The hands that measured their waists seemed to be picking people away from the city one by one.
What Liak doesn't know is that there are people in this world who can see memories, and there are also people who make a living by harvesting the obsession of the dead. The woman lingering in the mirror, the locked iron gate in the tailor's backyard, the pale golden light flowing in the pottery bowl - every clue leads him to another layer on the back of this world. There are "remaining memories" hidden there: the memories and obsessions of the dead left in reality, distorting reality and giving birth to things that should not exist.
And the person who guided him step by step to find the truth was precisely the person he should not trust the most.
A detective, a black cat with green eyes, a mirror you shouldn't look into. The closer the truth is to him, the farther he is from ordinary life. Some doors can never be closed once they are pushed open.
