This is an imaginary novel based on the history of the late Qing Dynasty. The core is to rewrite the tragic fate of Emperor Tongzhi and Queen Alute.
The seventeen-year-old Tongzhi Emperor Zaichun appeared to be a dandy emperor, but in fact he used this disguise to protect himself and secretly resist the control of his biological mother, the Empress Dowager Cixi. Ling Yun, an orphan who was adopted by Baoyin's father since childhood, followed her into the palace as a third-class bodyguard and guarded her in secret. Tongzhi was determined to work hard after witnessing the suffering of the people. While dealing with the forces of Concubine Cixi and Concubine Hui in the harem, the emperor and empress gradually took back their power in the court. Ling Yun stood up to protect his master in times of crisis, and Tong Zhi went from being suspicious and jealous at the beginning to trusting him in the end, and the three of them reached a tacit understanding.
Under the checks and balances of Empress Dowager Ci'an with the "imperial reward" seal, the emperors and empresses worked together to thwart the conspiracy of the deposed empress, investigate corruption, and implement the New Deal. Cixi was eventually stripped of her power and imprisoned, and Concubine Hui's conspiracy was exposed. Tongzhi created a prosperous era of Zhongxing, and joined hands with Baoyin to rule the world. Ling Yun was awarded the title of Uncle Zhongyong and went to northern Xinjiang to guard the border. He never married and carried the safety buckle given by Baoyin with him for the rest of his life.
