I Thought of You as a Brother, but You Want to Be My Husband

Pei Yan | A cold, devoted, possessive crown prince × Jiang Zhizhi | A brazen little gold digger

Childhood sweethearts | Secret identity exposed | Groveling to win her back (though really, her husband was the first to stop pretending)

Jiang Zhizhi's nickname was “Little Gold Digger.”

When she was five, she clutched Pei Yan's icy hand and told him, “Don't be scared, big brother.” For the next twenty years, Pei Yan spoiled her rotten.

A purse? He bought it. A house? He gave her one. A gift for her boyfriend? He paid for it.

Everyone said she was after Pei Yan's money. She answered without a trace of shame: “A big brother spoiling his little sister is only natural.”

Then one day, she got herself a boyfriend who was the most popular guy on campus, and Pei Yan stopped replying to her messages.

She texted, “Big brother, I miss you.” He replied, “Mm.”

She texted, “Big brother, I've caught a cold.” He replied, “Medicine.”

When she came home for the weekend, he stood on the stairs looking down at her, his voice hoarse, as if the words had to be forced out of his throat.

“I'm not your brother. Your affairs have nothing to do with me.”

Only later did she learn that Pei Yan had been hospitalized with stomach bleeding.

She rushed into his room and took his icy hand, just as she had when she was five.

Pei Yan turned his face away. His lashes trembled and his voice shook.

“Zhizhi, I can't be your big brother anymore.”

Through her tears, she said, “Then don't be.”

That night, when Pei Yan pulled out his IV and held the back of her head as he kissed her,

his hot breath brushed her ear as he chuckled softly:

“Then from now on, you should call me your husband.”
