I have been reading novels since the second grade of elementary school. There are not many words that have passed by over the years, but there are really not many that can make people follow one book after another. Brother Hai's writing style is very good, but I don't want to use words like "exquisite writing style" or "immortal writing" to describe it. That kind of goodness doesn't come from the face, it's taken in. When reading, you will unconsciously become quiet, as if you are sitting next to a very experienced person, listening to him say something that actually has weight in the most ordinary tone. He doesn't blow up the field or show off his skills, but you will be retained. I especially like his "non-teaching" method of teaching. Many books reach a certain point where you can feel that the author can't help but want to reason with you. Brother Hai is not like this. He lets the sophistication of the world grow in the plot, and allows gains and losses, advancement and retreat to be hidden between dialogue and silence. As you watched, you were suddenly clicked. It was not the discomfort of being preached to, but the kind of knowledge you had figured out on your own. This moment of "understanding a little bit" is very light, but very solid. To be honest, novels may be the easiest form for people to learn something. Theories will be forgotten and the principles will become boring, but when a good story enters the heart, there is no need to deliberately remember the things it brings. Every time I finish reading Brother Hai's book, I feel as if I am a little more enlightened than before I opened it, not much, but certainly there. I will always follow his books. I can't tell you any fancy reasons, I just think it's good to have such a senior by my side.
Here I wish Brother Hai to write his new book calmly and in still water, like a boat sailing at night, without fighting for the crossing, there will always be people in the same boat.
