In the future era, space-warped predator beasts and special lifeforms known as Shadow Eaters launch a massive invasion, leaving human civilization on the brink of collapse. Wang Chen was an ordinary resident of a sixth-level defensive satellite city, born into a typical working-class family. An accident led him to form a one-of-a-kind symbiotic bond with a Shadow Eater.
At first, all he wanted was to land a stable job and live out a simple life. But a sudden attack leaves his family dead, forcing him to witness the suffering of ordinary people in a chaotic age and the hardships of the world firsthand. To survive, to keep from being trampled underfoot, and to avenge his family, he is forced to fight again and again. Luckily, there’s a little monster inside him that isn’t picky about food. Man and monster bring out the best in each other, and ultimately undergo a transformation.
