Forensic Heroes III: She Is His Exception

Bu Guodong (Pro Sir), a senior forensic scientist in the West Kowloon Forensic Department, is an absolutely rational “walking encyclopedia” in everyone’s eyes.

He believes everything should follow rules, evidence, and procedure. His life is like a laboratory incubator: precise, cool, and without a flaw. Until one excessively cold afternoon, when he sees a girl in an ill-fitting lab coat shivering in the office. A worn red cord circles her right wrist. Her eyes are timid, yet hide astonishing resilience.

Wen Shuyu is a forensic pathology consultant seconded from the mainland. Fragile as a white butterfly caught in the rain, she fears the dark, heights, and becoming a burden to others. She is used to swallowing her pain and believes she doesn’t deserve to be loved.

He should have been nothing more than her superior. But he swaps her iced lemon tea for hot chocolate, leaves a desk lamp on for her in a darkened corridor, climbs out a window on the edge of a high-rise to pull her into his arms, and breaks every professional rule for her in a pitch-black warehouse, shouting her name like a madman.

From “Dr. Wen” to “Shuyu,” and then to the tenderest “A-Yu”: in a world where everyone follows the rules, she alone is the one exception he will make for the rest of his life.

“I used to have my reservations. I didn’t dare get too close to you. But not anymore. From now on, I’ll protect only you.”
