Lu Yuan, a recent police academy graduate on a graduation trip, wanders into an abandoned mountain temple. While drunk, a mysterious old Taoist strokes his head, awakening his ability to retrace criminal traces through spiritual perception.

Step onto a crime scene, and he can reconstruct the entire crime in 10 seconds with a holographic display. Every object the killer touched glows bright red;

touch the murder weapon, and the angle of attack, force trajectory, and details of the killer’s hands become crystal clear;

touch the victim’s body, and the victim’s final five seconds of vision appear before his eyes. Only the killer’s face remains shrouded in black mist.

In Jiangcheng in 2000, the Skynet surveillance system has yet to be installed. DNA tests must be sent to the provincial department, where results take half a month. Cameras are few and far between, so police work relies on pounding the pavement and asking around.

Others can work for three days and nights without finding a single lead. Lu Yuan takes one look around the scene and immediately pins down the direction of the investigation!

Locked-room murders, serial corpse dumping, unsolved arson cases, an eight-year-old dismemberment case…

Cases that seem flawless to everyone else always yield their most crucial clues in his hands.

Starting as a probationary third-class police inspector, he rises steadily by solving one airtight case after another.

He brings together Jiangcheng’s strongest police team: a decisive, hard-hitting captain leads operations; a meticulous star forensic examiner determines causes of death; a socially awkward trace-evidence expert examines the tiniest details; a tech whiz cracks data puzzles; and a spirited young field officer lays a sweeping net across the streets.

He is the team’s trusted ace detective and the nightmare of Jiangcheng’s criminals.

No one knows he possesses supernatural abilities. They just think the young detective is gifted and meticulous.

A clear mind brings clarity. Use your abilities with care.
