Strange Tales of the Tang Dynasty Fanfic: Qingning Takes the Case

[Female-oriented spin-off + fan fiction + TV and film]

Xiao Qingning, a noblewoman from a cadet branch of the Lanling Xiao clan, sees her family fall into decline as her father resigns from office and retreats into seclusion. Influenced by him from childhood, she loathes the vanity of court life more than anything and wants only to spend her days among ancient books, living peacefully in the mountains.

When the Chang'an Red Tea Case begins, she meets Su Wuming, a "disciple of Judge Di." Though she had wanted to keep to herself, his willingness to stoop to help others despite seeing through the ways of the world moves her to give up her quiet life and join the investigation.

From the rain at Gantang Post Station to the Huangmei murder plot, the fragrance of medicine at the Hall of All Beings, the surging waters of the Tuo God River, the bizarre Face Flower Case, and snow falling at the Tower That Reaches the Heavens…

The Strange Tales of the Tang Dynasty slowly unfolds. This page tells of Qingning joining the investigation and walking through the long night alongside them.
