When Lin Zhiyi opened her eyes, she found she’d become an NPC at a secluded boarding school. Her job was to knock on students’ dormitory doors on rainy nights, ask, “Have you seen my face?” and then stand there grinning without one.
According to the script, she was supposed to chase players through the hallways and play the part of a terrifying NPC.
But Lin Zhiyi refused.
Players: ??? What’s wrong with this NPC?
Even more absurdly, she discovered she could freely travel between dungeons, ignore the System’s rules, and even rip the dungeon BOSS’s head off with her bare hands and kick it around like a ball.
While other players were chased through the dormitory by the faceless housemother with nowhere to run, Lin Zhiyi lounged on the rooftop, legs crossed, munching on watermelon.
When the BOSS crawled out of the black fog, covered in blood and ready to unleash his ultimate move, Lin Zhiyi planted a foot on his face. “Be a good boy and call me Big Sis.”
Then one day, she kicked open the door to a new dungeon’s BOSS room and saw a refined-looking man in gold-rimmed glasses sitting behind the desk. He calmly wiped the blood from his hands and looked up at her.
“Lin Zhiyi,” he said with a smile. “I’ve searched seven dungeons for you. So you finally decided to come to my turf?”
Later, the entire infinite-game world went crazy.
“That unhinged BOSS codenamed K is pursuing an NPC?!”
“Bullshit! Can’t you see that NPC is the one chasing him around and beating him up?!”
