At twenty-two, Hua Jingchen often marvels at how absurd life can be.
Six years ago, in the S1 Honor of Kings arena, he casually crushed a host of rookie players. Now every one of them has risen to the top of the KPL and become a league god adored by millions.
Meanwhile, the legendary mid-lane mage who once ruled the arena has quietly returned after six years away.
What’s the first big thing he does after coming back?
His roommate turns out to be Bai Ling, a popular female streamer.
Her livestream is targeted by trolls and challenged by skilled passersby, while the comments mock her for playing terribly.
With no other choice, Hua Jingchen steps in to help the streamer take control of the match.
When the long-lost mid-lane Luna and Diao Chan reappear in the Rift, the entire internet erupts.
Teams everywhere rush to offer him contracts, and his former teammate Fly invites him to fight side by side once more.
He forms the Chenguang CG team, whose three-core offense sweeps through the city and national tournaments before breaking into the KPL.
Using an old-school playstyle to shake up the modern league, they take on powerhouse teams one after another and pursue the sport’s highest honor: the World Championship!
They bring a much-needed boost to China’s region, which hasn’t won a World Championship in eight years!
