The story goes back to 1992 at Handong University. Hou Liangping, his roommate, kicked in the door to borrow money and chased Zhong Xiaoai. He counted out twenty-five crumpled banknotes and handed them over. He leaned on the manuscript paper and wrote "Those Things of the Ming Dynasty", and the pen ran across the paper one thousand two hundred words an hour - this speed was enough for him to make waves in this era.
