His emotions persist as the foundation of his soul, spanning the four dynasties of Dao, Xian, Tong and Guang, panoramically showing his legendary life from an unappreciated county school student to the commander-in-chief of the Hunan Army Navy, and in his later years, he became ill and took a tassel to fight against the law. By portraying this "alien" in the field of power, the novel aims to explore how, on the eve of the collapse of a decadent empire, individual dignity transcends fame and fortune and becomes a lone beam of immortal light in the dark night of history.
