[Alternate history, parallel world] [Do not read this as reflecting reality] [Slow burn] [Period novel]
“Reborn in a parallel world as a young widow brought into a family to bring her husband good fortune, she finds that everyone is waiting for her to die so they can seize her property. She packs up her late husband’s inheritance overnight, stocks up on mountains of hard-to-sell goods, and heads south with her child without looking back. It’s 1948. Who has time for your household scheming?
The Gu family are stunned.
In 1948 Hong Kong, prices are soaring, gangs are everywhere, and even finding a place to live is hard.
No matter. She has a pocket dimension, money, supplies, and knowledge of how the next several decades will unfold.
A rich man’s wife? A department head’s spouse? A young master’s true love? Forget it. She’s going to take her seat at the table and order for herself.”
Quite interesting
It's not a great novel, it has some minor shortcomings, but it's acceptable. I'll give it four stars first, and I'll review it after I finish it.
I haven't read it yet, but I just found it. I really like Hong Kong City Wen. I'll review it after reading it. Come on, author, I'm optimistic about you.
No one commented? I finished reading this book and found that I have finished it.
