Silk Curtains and Red Walls: The Concubine’s Daughter Takes Charge Without Bowing Her Head

In her previous life, Su Qingyuan was a mild-mannered daughter of the marquis's household. Her legitimate mother schemed against her and made her take her elder sister's place in marrying the brutal, suspicious Marquis of Yongning.

After the wedding, her husband's concubine framed her, servants bullied her, and her husband suspected her. Her birth family treated her as a pawn to be discarded, and in the end, she died in a cold courtyard after being forced to drink poison.

Reborn, she returns to the year she was fifteen, when her marriage was to be arranged.

Her stepmother wants to use her as a stepping stone and dump her on some decrepit old man? Dream on!

Her elder sister steals her opportunities and humiliates her in public? She'll tear off the mask right there and give her a brutal face-slapping.

The marquis's household is rife with undercurrents, the concubines each have their own schemes, and the servants fawn on the powerful while looking down on the weak.

Su Qingyuan puts her weakness behind her and plans every move carefully, determined to reclaim what belongs to her.

All she wants is to make a safe escape and leave the marquis's household and its intrigues behind. But before long, the cold and aloof Marquis of Yongning begins to look at her differently.

“From now on, as long as I'm here, no one can bully you.”

She takes on the worst of the household in a battle of wits, enters the palace to contend with the powerful, builds businesses and saves her own money, securing her independence.
