In this version of the Dream of the Red Chamber, Jia Daihua's eldest son, Jia Fu, is still alive. As the eldest son, he is highly accomplished in literature. After passing the imperial examinations and entering officialdom, he rose to the rank of Junior Preceptor, a first-rank official. He has now retired and returned to his hometown. He should have inherited his father's title of First-Class Mighty General, which had already been reduced from Duke, but the emperor graciously allowed him to inherit the title of Duke of Ningguo instead. His wife, Shen Hui of the Shen clan, is the legitimate daughter of Shen Yi, Marquis of Anhu of Gusu, and has been granted the title of First-Rank Lady of Honor.
Jia Daihua's wife, Lady Gao, the Dowager Duchess of Ningguo, is also still alive. She comes from the Gao clan of Bohai, a distinguished family whose patriarch is the Duke Who Guards the Nation.
Jia Fu has two sons, Jia Jin and Jia Yu, and a daughter, Jia Shaochun.
The eldest son, Jia Jin, placed second in the palace examination and later entered officialdom as a fourth-rank Vice Director of the Court of State Ceremonial.
His wife, Zhao Liguan of the Zhao clan, is the daughter of Zhao Sheng, a third-rank commander of the Imperial Guards.
The second son, Jia Yu, entered officialdom after passing the imperial examinations and now serves as a fifth-rank commander of a thousand in the Imperial Guards.
His wife is Cui Chanxi. Her uncle, Cui Wen, is a first-rank Grand Commander of the Army.
Truth and lies blur: when the false becomes true, the true becomes false; where nothing exists, something appears.
