Overworked office worker Li Xing dies from working overtime and transmigrates into a dating-show novel, where he becomes a nameless extra who does nothing but cook in the kitchen. He accepts his fate and decides to lie flat, planning to quietly play the cook until the show ends.

Who could have guessed that Shen Chi, the spoiled rich kid everyone in the original novel looked down on, would become fascinated by Li Xing’s wooden expression that never reacts, no matter how much he flirts? Shen Chi spends every day pestering him in the kitchen, hoping to see him lose his temper in embarrassment. Meanwhile, Wen Ran, the original novel’s protagonist and love interest, befriends Li Xing in the kitchen. To his surprise, he rediscovers the self he lost under Gu Yanshen’s prolonged psychological control and begins to resist the possessive CEO.

On camera, Shen Chi goes from “just teasing him” to “I can’t live without him,” while Li Xing goes from “slow on the uptake and unmoved” to belatedly falling for him. In the end, Wen Ran rejects Gu Yanshen and chooses the happiness that truly belongs to him, between Ji Chuan and Pei Yu.

A story about the warmth of home cooking, trending-topic explosions in the livestream chat, and a wooden-hearted man finally blossoming.
