[Wasteland Survival + Monster Organs + Mechanical Augmentation + No System]
In the wasteland, killing a monster is only the beginning.
Only when you graft its organs into your body do you truly gain its abilities.
The auditory bones left behind by a Wall Listener went into my mechanical left arm. With my palm pressed against a wall, I can hear what’s happening on the other side. A sac shed by a Gray Lung grew on my chest and became a second lung. It filters radiation from my sister’s blood, but all the contamination stays in my body.
Twelve years after the nuclear war, the ecological creatures bred before the war ran amok, turning the Eastern Continent into a wasteland. The survivors retreated into an industrial valley, where they held on to nine still-functioning living furnaces and survived on their heat and clean water.
This place is called Nine Furnaces.
My sister suffers from radiation sickness, and medicine can only slow its progress. I have to keep venturing beyond the valley to get her next dose. The auditory bones and my second lung aren’t nearly enough.
Once, I pressed my left hand against an old pipe that had been out of use for years. The water supply had long since been cut off, yet I felt a faint tremor beneath my palm.
I didn’t let go.
Much later, a second tremor came back from the other end of the valley.
