An utterly ordinary engineer is transferred to a secure compound deep in the Gobi Desert of Xinjiang. At first, he thinks it's just a technical support assignment. Then he realizes the figures on the blueprints don't match reality, the people around him are disappearing one by one, and something unidentified has been implanted behind his ear. He wants to escape, but then he discovers that those people knew who he was from the very beginning.
