This book selects representative works of nearly 20 Thai poets from ancient times to contemporary times, allowing readers to have a glimpse of the general development of Thai poetry, including ancient Sibala, Prince Tammatibei, Suntong Pu ("Thai Shakespeare"), and modern poets. The famous democratic poets of the modern times are Napi and Ji Bhumitha, Naowara Phongpaibun, known as the "Poet Laureate of the Bangkok Dynasty", Angkham Kamrayanapon who initiated the reform of the Imagism in New Poetry, the originator of abstract poetry and the Chinese poet Chen Zhuang, and so on. Among these poems, there are "Paluan Proverbs", which has been circulated among the people for a long time and was the first to be translated into Western and which embodies the essence of Thai philosophy of life and folk wisdom; narrative poetry with the most lyrical characteristics among court poems; "Thailand's Romeo and Juliet" "Paro Fu", known as "Paro Fu", is the most legendary epic representative "Kunchang Khun Paen Songbook", which integrates folk and court traditions, and "Journey to the Golden Ridge" by Shuntong Pu, which is a textbook representative of literati poetry and is regarded as the standard of chronicle poetry by later poets.
