Synopsis

[Republic of China's Anti-Japanese War Market Literature and Realistic Family Portraits] During the Anti-Japanese War, deep in Bashan, a group of scholars who fled down the river took root in thatched cottages in the mountains. The protagonist Li Nanquan, as a writer, has to provide food and clothing for the family at first and mediate minor frictions between husband and wife at next. Continuous rain and endless air raids are the norm in daily life. Every day when the sirens are heard, they drag their families and their families into the air-raid shelters, giving a clear view of all living beings in the cave. The neighbors around me each have their own stories: an old professor who makes a living off of meager lessons, a shrewd wife who likes to compare, a singing girl who is entangled by powerful people, and a black-hearted businessman who hoards money. A meal of coarse grains, a vegetable oil lamp, and a few quarrels created the most authentic human fireworks during the war. On one side is the warmth of ordinary people helping each other, on the other side is the ugly face of speculators who bully others. There are no huge wars and killings, but it focuses on the daily necessities, joys and sorrows of ordinary people. The plain text conveys the background of troubled times, the characters are vivid and three-dimensional, and the atmosphere of the era is strong. The more you read, the more you feel immersed in it.
