After Marriage, the Tide Rises

[Married first, fell in love later; no angst, sweet romance; a strong heroine with a solid sense of self; an upright, open-minded hero] Zhou Ying thought she had few emotional needs, but Qi Tianye’s thoughtfulness and tenderness gradually wore down her defenses. In the end, she still fell for him. Qi Tianye had always thought he would only fall in love once in his life. He had never imagined that another woman could find her way into his heart. “Do you believe in love at first sight?” “No.” “Why not?” “Someone once said that every case of love at first sight is really just being attracted to someone’s looks, and every case of love that grows over time is just weighing the pros and cons. You and I got together without love at first sight, and there’s no love that’s grown over time now either. We’re simply weighing the pros and cons.” “Isn’t that why you’re with me?” “You’re with me because you weighed the pros and cons. It wouldn’t be fair to make me fall for you at first sight!” “If you ever fall for someone else, just tell me.” But when she did, he chose to avoid her. She said, “Love really is unfair. The one who falls first loses from the start. Because I like you, I expect a lot from you. I want things to be fair, and I want you to like me too. I know there’s someone you like. I could tell from the way you dodged my probing that your original reason for getting married hasn’t changed. So, since you don’t feel that way about me, I don’t want to keep torturing myself. Things are good for both of us right now, so let’s part on good terms.” Qi Tianye immediately wanted to bang his head against a wall!!!!
