The Whole Internet Is Begging Me to Return to Science

Lu Xinghe transmigrates to a parallel-universe city and becomes the third generation of an academic family. His grandfather is a veteran academician who contributed to China's atomic and hydrogen bomb programs, and his father is a top aeronautics academician. Everyone assumes he'll follow in their footsteps, entering the lab at twenty and winning a national award at thirty. But on the very day his family arranges for him to join a research team, he turns around and signs up for a nationwide music competition.

His relatives sneer, “The Lu family has produced a singer?”

Netizens jeer, “A well-connected celebrity, right? Now even the family of an academician is coming to the entertainment industry to grab a piece of the pie?”

The production team is even harsher. They put him at the bottom of the rankings in the first episode, deliberately saving a popular singer for last.

Just before he takes the stage, the “Top Student Entertainment System” activates. By creating works through knowledge and earning recognition, he can gain academic points, skills, and technical blueprints. Lu Xinghe immediately writes a song called “Gazing Up at the Sea of Stars,” weaving astrophysics, spaceflight dreams, and a young man's lonely courage into its melody. The judges are left speechless, the audience falls silent, and the live chat shifts from mockery to a flood of comments: “This isn't a song. It's a love letter from China's space program to the young!”

After his explosive debut, his haters dig into his academic record, hoping to prove he is merely a product of his academician family's connections. Instead, Lu Xinghe publicly shares an unpublished draft of a paper from his university days, and editors at international journals contact him overnight. The entertainment industry is stunned, the research community erupts, and after a long silence, his father asks, “Did you join the show to popularize science?”

Lu Xinghe smiles. “No. I'm here to show them that top students can make the whole world burn with excitement, too.”
