War of Resistance: Hold Changsha to the Last

During the Battle of Shanghai, General Li Yutang was still a division commander, and I went undercover at his side as his adjutant. I fought to survive alongside the Taishan Army amid the flames of war, through the rear-guard action at Shanghai and the bloody battle at Jinguang Bridge. When the general was promoted to corps commander, I continued to follow him in secret, witnessing the fierce fighting at Changsha and the battles in northern Hunan. When the smoke cleared, I headed behind enemy lines and joined the Eighth Route Army's 772nd Regiment, fighting across the mountains and wilderness. Over seven long years of war, I followed two generals onto very different battlefields. This is the weighty fate of a generation caught up in the War of Resistance.
