Unbridled Man

[Older man + female growth + powerful family + coming-of-age romance]

An elegant, refined, scheming male lead × a clear-eyed, resilient heroine he helps grow

When Chu Qinghe was eighteen and starting university, her father was seriously ill. Her family was poor, her mother worked alone to support them, and she also had a ten-year-old younger brother.

At nineteen, watching her exhausted mother, Chu Qinghe went looking for work in the nightlife scene. There, she ran into Pei Yan, an old friend who was in town on a business trip. Pei Yan paid all of her father’s medical bills.

“Chu Qinghe, you’re still young. Focus on your studies.”

He took Chu Qinghe out to see the world.

Ambitious Chu Qinghe entered the workforce at nineteen. Pei Yan, the crown prince of Zhejiang City, brought her to his company as an intern and secretary.

He helped her learn about the workplace, step into her career, and gave her every chance to succeed.

At twenty-two, Chu Qinghe was dissatisfied with her circumstances. She used Pei Yan’s connections and reputation to launch her own business. When Pei Yan found out, all he said was, “She has a good eye. I admire her.” He cleared the way for her and made sure she had a safety net.

At twenty-three, Chu Qinghe’s business failed.

Pei Yan, now thirty-one, was there to catch her.

“Chu Qinghe, how about being with me?”

Chu Qinghe: “What am I supposed to be like? They call me calculating, arrogant, and vain.”

Pei Yan: “They call you calculating, arrogant, and vain because they don’t have power, and I do. To me, you’re independent, brave, and ambitious. I wish you were covered in thorns from head to toe, standing shoulder to shoulder with me.”
