When Lin Lu was eighteen, a strange boy cornered her on the KTV rooftop. Just as she began to panic, Xu Zhou, the aloof, distant boy from the class next door, walked over and said to him, “What are you doing here? I’ve been calling you, and you haven’t picked up.”

Only later did she learn that he was Xu Zhou, a math competition gold medalist, a genius recognized by the whole school, aloof and taciturn, and never one to get close to anyone. Yet for her, he made an exception time and again.
