For four years of college, he made it his job to take her around Nanjing to eat every kind of duck blood vermicelli soup, to play guitar for her when her thesis drove her crazy, and on every homesick night, to say in his usual goofy way, “Yingzi, I’m right here. What are you afraid of?”
He thought he had hidden his feelings pretty well.
Until one day, Yingzi looked at him and said, “Fang Hou’er, you didn’t come to Nanjing because of me, did you?”
He choked on his water so spectacularly it sounded like an explosion.
This is a story that begins in September.
Set in Nanjing, it’s about plane trees, duck blood vermicelli soup, the evening breeze at the observatory, and a long-planned romance in which both hearts find their way to each other.
P.S. This is a labor of love. I adore the Yingfan couple! It has to be sweet!
The writing is pretty good
Not bad, very pretty
