The Dahong Kingdom was an anti-Qing peasant regime established by Chen Jinzhao (Chen Jingang), leader of the Tiandihui in Guangdong during the Xianfeng period of the Qing Dynasty. It relied on the wave of the Taiping Rebellion and its core area spanned western Guangdong and eastern Guangdong. In the fourth year of Xianfeng's reign (1854), Guangdong's Tiandihui Hongbing uprising took place. Chen Jinzhen (Sanshui Cooper) raised a flag to rebel against the Qing Dynasty in his hometown of Sanshui. His troops quickly expanded to 100,000, and they once besieged Guangzhou and went north to Chenzhou in Hunan. In the seventh year of Xianfeng (1857), Chen Jinzhen conquered Huaiji County and formally established the Dahong Kingdom. He called himself King of Nanxing and named his confidant Zheng Jin (Zheng Shaozhong) as the general marshal. Its influence covers Huaiji, Kaijian, Fengchuan, Hexian and other counties on the border of Guangdong and Guangxi. It opens warehouses to help the poor, opens courses to recruit scholars, and establishes a complete military and political system. In the eleventh year of Xianfeng (1861), Chen Jinzhao's army went south to capture Xinyi County (now the ancient city of Longbafang, Xinyi City, Maoming) and moved the center of power here. In the second year of Tongzhi (1863), the Qing government mobilized heavy troops from Guangdong and Guangxi to encircle and suppress the Dahong Kingdom, and besieged the royal city of Xinyi for a long time. Coach Zheng Jin was bribed by Houlu, a senior official of the Qing army, to launch a rebellion, assassinate the leader Chen Jinzhao, and sacrifice his head to the Qing army. The leaderless rebel army quickly collapsed, and the Great Hong Kingdom, which had existed for six years, was completely destroyed; the rebel general Zheng Jin later became a senior military attache of the Qing Dynasty.
This book mainly tells the story of the protagonist Chen Jin being reincarnated as a soldier with the same name betrayed by the traitor Zheng Jin, struggling to survive, and making a comeback from adversity.
