Strange phenomena descend from the sky. Plants grow wildly, insects and snakes mutate, and once-gentle forests become man-eating hunting grounds.
Lu Qingzhou, an outer disciple of the Qinglan Sect, happens upon a mysterious jade token that can improve cultivation techniques, helping an otherwise mediocre talent stand out from the menial servants. One day, his senior brother from the same courtyard, Xie Yunzheng, goes into the mountains on an assignment and fails to return that night. The jade token then issues a mission: investigate the reason for his senior brother’s disappearance. Deadline: five days. Difficulty rating: D, upper tier.
Armed with an old woodcutter’s knife and accompanied by several constables, each with their own motives, Lu Qingzhou enters the mutated forest. Red-eyed wolves, centipedes two feet long, giant bears over ten feet tall... Fierce creatures fill the mountains, while an even greater crisis is quietly brewing beneath the seemingly peaceful world.
