On a stormy night in the tenth year of Hongwu, Zhu Ying touches half of a twin-fish jade pendant inside a makeup box and accidentally transmigrates to a modern-day Lu family villa, where he meets Lu Heng for the first time.
The two go from mutual suspicion to growing familiar with each other. As they explore the pendant's rules for traveling through time and space, they discover they can make brief trips between eras, while a crisis in the Hongwu court begins to take shape.
