Be Good! Call Me Hubby!

Everyone in the capital knows that Ninth Master Fu, Fu Yanshen, avoids women, lives an ascetic life, and keeps everyone at arm's length.

But only Du Xinran knows how clingy this “old man,” fifteen years her senior, can be after the lights go out. Eyes red and voice hoarse, he acts like a giant, lovesick puppy, insisting on grabbing her waist and pulling her into his arms.

At first, theirs was just a mutually beneficial arrangement.

She called him “Mr. Fu,” and he called her “Miss Du.” Their marriage contract was clear: no interference, each gets what they want.

Until one night, after drinking, he cornered her against the wall with red-rimmed eyes. His burning fingertips brushed her lips, his voice so hoarse it barely sounded like his own.

“Who said you could call me Mister? Be good and call me ‘husband.’”

She called him that in a trembling voice, and he pulled her even tighter. A sigh reached her ear. “Such a good girl. I'd give you my life.”

Later, Du Xinran tried to run, but he grabbed her by the waist and pulled her back.

Ninth Master Fu sneered. “Trying to leave? Too late. For the rest of your life, you'll have to say those two words in my ear.”
