The hotel made a net profit of two million a year. I gave each employee a year-end bonus of fifty thousand, but the three chefs thought the money was too little and forced me to hand over half of the profit. Seeing that I refused, they incited 13 employees to resign en masse, and opened a new store directly opposite me, threatening to steal all the customers.
