This book takes the southern Yunnan borderland as the stage in the late Ming Dynasty, and revolves around the disputes between the chieftains of the eight villages in southern Yunnan and the safety of the imperial court. The chieftain of Jintuo Village, Long Zaitian (the One-horned Dragon King), guards the gold mine and dominates the area. His son, Long Fei Baozi, is both civil and military. The Duke of Guizhou, Mu Tianlan, accidentally ate the blood of the golden-threaded eel king when he was young, and was taught his unique skills by a mysterious man from the hidden world. The knight-errant Jin Chi Peng avenges his adoptive father, the Flying Centipede, and lives in Yunnan and Guizhou, where he is involved in chieftain battles and official grudges; the red boy Zuo Kun travels thousands of miles to avenge his mother and trace his father's traces, and finally reunites with his father, the blind Yama, Zuo Jianqiu. The book interweaves chieftain battles for hegemony, Jianghu vendettas, palace guards and bandits robberies, interpreting a magnificent legend of chivalry on the frontier, fully displaying the customs and heroic spirit of southern Yunnan in troubled times.
