On his first day out of the police academy, Xu Zhou stumbles upon a murder and gets killed by the culprit with a rice cooker. When he opens his eyes again, he has returned to twelve minutes earlier and been bound to the Crime Scene Replay System. From then on, while others rush to the scene only after receiving an emergency call, he can always intercept the culprit in advance. While others have only just discovered a clue, he already knows what to investigate next. But rewinding time only gives him another chance; it cannot conjure evidence out of thin air. To secure a conviction, he still has to conduct interviews, reason through the case, and complete the chain of evidence himself. Just as the whole team begins to suspect that Xu Zhou can tell fortunes or has some special connection to the culprit, Lu Xingwan, the “princess” of a provincial department leader’s family, arrives at the Major Crimes Team and names him a person of particular interest on her very first day. At first, she thinks he’s impulsive, insubordinate, and unreliable. Later, each case Xu Zhou solves earns a little more of her trust, and each person he saves makes her heart flutter a little more. By the time she realizes what’s happening, her observation notes have shifted from case details to Xu Zhou’s daily routine and eating habits. Xu Zhou, meanwhile, is still focused on solving cases. After all, a culprit won’t wait, and romance can come later.
