The Great Qin Peddler

He treats the Warring States like a logistics network and the realm like a stockroom to be inventoried.

On a stormy night, modern young man Lu Feng’s soul transmigrates into Puyang in the State of Wei, where he becomes seventeen-year-old Lü Buwei.

A green mark on his palm connects to a warehouse on a modern farm. His phone contains offline maps, agricultural technology, and historical timelines, but its battery will last only a few dozen uses.

A packet of refined salt earns him his first fortune. A bag of white sugar opens up Zhao’s trade routes. A map of Handan’s defenses brings Wang Jian himself to the Rare Goods House to seek his advice.

Over sixty-five years, he goes from being a merchant on the streets of Handan whom no one takes seriously, to the “lowborn merchant chancellor” scowled at by the old nobility in Xianyang’s court, and finally to the “strategic adviser” whom Ying Zheng visits incognito every month by the Wei River.

Using modern logistics principles, he transforms Qin’s grain routes, farm tools, weapons, and military system. He embeds the concept of “logistics” into every link of Great Qin’s unification of the Six States.

But he cannot change Ying Zheng’s fundamental nature. Nor can he change Zhao Ji’s question: “Did you ever truly love me back then?” And he cannot change the fate of his phone’s battery slowly draining until it shuts down for good.

This is a story about what one merchant can and cannot change. Sixty-five years, 176 chapters, from Handan to Xianyang, from Puyang to the Rare Goods House, from the first time his palm grows warm to the final epilogue.

Perhaps history cannot be changed, but those who try to change it can always find a way to leave their mark on time.
