China’s coast in 1997 was a storm in its own right: state-owned enterprise reforms, the Asian financial crisis, the unchecked growth of private businesses, and a vacuum of rules. Xu Wenjun stands at its very center. He is not someone swept up in the storm. He will ultimately become the storm itself.
After his father died, he left behind an old ledger filled with the city’s most secret debts and favors. When seventeen-year-old Xu Wenjun opens it to the first page, he has no idea that this ledger is worth an entire city.
The plot is tense and the protagonist uses his brain, not mindlessly. It's very interesting!
