A Comparative Study of the Supernatural: Did You Summon Yang Jian Just to Slay Yamata No Orochi?

Global disaster strikes, and 197 nations are forced to take part in the Mythic Knowledge Trials. The rules are brutally harsh: fail, and your population permanently drops by one tenth. If your people die, your nation falls. After the first round, Neon successfully revives an ancient ferocious beast: the Eight-Headed Serpent, Yamata no Orochi. They immediately turn their sights on the Dragon Kingdom, with the next trial set as: Slay the Dragon of the East. The fate of the nation hangs by a thread. At that moment, five mythological figures appear before Cao Shou, the Dragon Kingdom's representative: Yang Jian of Guanjiangkou, the Wind-Piercing Demon King, the Great Immortal Huli, the Great Sage White Bone, and Bai Wuchang, the Soul-Reaping Envoy. Everyone thinks these are nothing more than random options drawn by lot. Only Cao Shou knows the truth: His choice will be the one and only being in the entire mythological pantheon capable of cleaving open the heavens. As the faithful of Neon scream that Yamata no Orochi is invincible, Cao Shou calmly raises a hand in the exam arena. “Please, Yang Jian.” The next instant, a three-pointed, double-edged spear tears through the sky. A heavenly eye opens, and all living beings fall silent. You revived a monster. But the one I summoned is a god.
