Lu Yao (played by Hu Yitian), a spoiled young master who has returned from studying in Britain, is invited to serve as a detective consultant by Qiao Chusheng (played by Zhang Yunlong), a formidable patrol-house inspector. Thanks to Lu Yao's exceptional intelligence and powers of deduction, the two team up with Bai Youning (played by Xiao Yan), a justice-minded female reporter with an abundance of righteous zeal, to form a small detective squad. Together, they solve one seemingly bizarre and inexplicable murder case after another. In a turbulent age, the three, though very different in temperament, uphold justice and keep society stable in this legendary tale.
