The story opens with Jia Zhangshi sprawled on the treatment bed at Lin Tian's neighborhood clinic, where he works as a massage therapist, throwing a tantrum and trying to extort money by faking an injury.
Neighbors gather to watch and point, underscoring Jia Zhangshi's shamelessness and Lin Tian's predicament.
Lin Tian responds with a cold laugh. He isn't the least bit flustered, calmly wiping down his silver needles as he points out that Jia Zhangshi's back hurts because she ate too much, and now she wants to dodge the bill.
Yi Zhonghai steps in at just the right moment to guilt-trip him: "Doctor Lin, you earn a good salary. Just consider those ten yuan a donation to someone in need."
Lin Tian fires back at Yi Zhonghai: "If you're childless and have plenty of money, why don't you pay? So generous with someone else's money. What kind of person are you?"
Yi Zhonghai flies into a rage, and Silly Zhu charges out of the crowd, swinging his fist at Lin Tian.

Silly Zhu's fist is about to land when Lin Tian casually brushes it aside, secretly striking a numb spot on his arm.
Half of Silly Zhu's body instantly goes limp, and he drops to his knees in front of Lin Tian in an utterly ridiculous pose.
Lin Tian laughs loudly. "Silly Zhu, it's not New Year yet. Why are you bowing so deeply?" The onlookers burst into laughter.
Seeing that force won't work, Jia Zhangshi continues wailing: "Oh, my dear Jia! They're bullying a widow and her orphaned children!"
Lin Tian steps forward. "Auntie Jia, you really do seem quite ill. I'll give you a free needle to get your gas moving."
He pushes a needle through her clothes and into an acupoint on her abdomen. The Bad-Luck Diarrhea Needle takes effect.
I can only say that it is a bit poisonous for the author to establish a martyred status with the Jia family.
