Winds Rise in the Capital, Just as Late Tang Blooms

"The thrills: A comeback from the depths of startup hell / A powerful female investor pursues him / A one-night stand turns into a business marriage alliance / From nothing to Series A in thirty-three days / Copy my algorithm, and I'll buy your entire market"

On a Beijing CBD rooftop, he clutched 320 yuan in his palm until it was slick with sweat. His boundless retail venture, the supply-chain system he'd sacrificed his youth to build, had been gutted by investors, abandoned by his partner, and rejected by twenty-seven firms. After three sleepless months, all he got was: “The market is too niche.”

Fate chose that moment at the edge of the abyss to send him a drunk woman. Amid the warm lights of Sanlitun, two bankrupt souls clinked glasses and cursed life. Before dawn, she fell asleep in his arms. He didn't even dare leave her his name, and fled in a panic.

The moment Su Wantang woke up, she checked surveillance footage and dug through records, then waited in the wind on the rooftop of the startup park. As the founder of Tangguo Capital, she stopped him again. She took his trembling hand and smiled calmly. “I'm Su Wantang. I'd like to invest in your project.”

From then on, the twenty-third floor was no longer his abyss alone. She gave him an office, clients, and the courage to get back in the game. Starting with data on soon-to-expire bread from a convenience store owner, the poor kid everyone had laughed at was painstakingly forging his shattered code back into a blade, one line at a time.

Beijing is vast enough to make room for every dawn and every fresh start.

The convenience store's bread data was their first dawn.
