The Funeral in the Twentieth Year

Twenty years ago, Shen Qinghe, Asia’s most acclaimed actress, died at a snowbound mountain resort.

The police ruled it an accident. Her husband, family, manager, lawyer, doctor… Every witness gave a remarkably consistent account, and the case was quickly closed. What followed was a years-long battle over her estate and a media storm that engulfed everything.

People remembered her work and forgot her death.

Twenty years later, her daughter, Shen Wangxi, receives an anonymous cassette tape. On it, someone who should already be dead softly calls her by name. At the same time, an unsigned invitation summons everyone who was there twenty years ago back to the hotel, now sealed off by snow and wind.

Some are afraid the truth will come to light.

Some are afraid the past will be brought up again.

And some believe that what is truly terrifying has never been death, but the fact that, on that day, everyone chose to hide something.

Wangxi decides to hire Lin Guan, a detective who specializes in long-unsolved cases, to uncover the truth about her mother’s final day.

But as the investigation deepens, she gradually realizes that perhaps she isn’t looking for a killer at all, but for a mother she never truly knew.
