A Pampered Bride in the Seventies: Her Flash Marriage to a Rugged Army Officer

[Period setting + sweet romance + follows him to the army + whirlwind marriage + rugged, fatherly soldier + cherished darling + secret love comes true + love grows over time]

Everyone in the compound was talking: that famously cold, fearsome, rugged military officer was getting married.

They heard his bride was a delicate, sweet little thing, too frail to carry anything or even lift a hand.

Everyone waited for the couple to become a laughingstock. They were a full seven years apart, one rough and wild, the other soft and prone to tears. How could they possibly make it work?

On their wedding night,

when the man’s imposing frame loomed over her, she huddled in the corner of the bed, eyes red. “D-don’t come any closer...”

His rough thumb brushed the corner of her eye. His voice was low, tinged with helplessness and boundless indulgence. “I haven’t even touched you. What are you crying for?”

After she followed him to his army post, the wives in the compound all assumed the delicate little bride wouldn’t be able to handle the hardship and would demand a divorce sooner or later.

But then...

While other families made do with coarse food, she had meat at every meal.

While other wives did all the housework, the cold-faced officer spoiled her like a treasure in his palm.

He even brought her foot-washing water to the bedside and knelt down to wash her feet himself, despite being a commanding figure everywhere else!

So much for rugged men not knowing how to treat a woman!

When the man cornered her against the wall again, she rubbed her aching waist and wanted to cry.

He chuckled and pulled her into his arms. “Be good. Call me ‘big brother’ and I’ll give you my life...”

It wasn’t until she accidentally opened the diary he had locked away in the deepest part of his desk one day that she discovered their seemingly chance matchmaking had been planned all along.
