“He’s the One You Love, So What Am I?”
Blurb
After a car accident, Qi Xun wakes up remembering only his first love from college.
He points at Shen Wei, who wears a ring on his left ring finger. “Who are you?”
Shen Wei takes off the ring and smiles. “The housekeeper.”
Three years of marriage, erased in a single bout of amnesia.
He hides their wedding photos, gives up the master bedroom, brews medicine for Qi Xun every day, and intercepts every message telling him, “You’re married,” all under the guise of being his housekeeper.
The day Qi Xun’s memory returns, Shen Wei hears Lin Wan ask him from outside the door, “Are you going to spend your whole life waiting for someone you can’t remember?”
Qi Xun says nothing.
Shen Wei turns away to pack, taking the wedding ring he has hidden for three years.
The final page of his diary:
“The day you remember, I want to ask you:
You’re the one I love, so what am I?
I’m the one who loves you, but am I still the one you love now?”
Four years later, they meet again in a small town.
Shen Wei takes off the ring and hands it back to him.
“He’s the one you love, so what am I?”
After asking, he turns and leaves.
This time, he won’t wait for an answer.
Shen Wei. Tiny as dust, but still here. He was always here, waiting for someone who no longer remembered him.
Qi Xun. After grief, he keeps searching. He searched for so long, only to find emptiness.
Main characters
Shen Wei (bottom): The only thing in his swaddling clothes was the character “Wei.” Tiny as dust, but still here. There was only one time in his life he believed he “wouldn’t be abandoned”: when Qi Xun told him so.
Qi Xun (top): “Qi” means sorrow, and “Xun” means to search. He made Shen Wei taste sorrow, then, after losing his memory, desperately searched for him. But by the time he found him, Shen Wei was no longer waiting.
I feel that this book is clearly written and easy to read, but there is abuse.
