The Eight Immortals: I Got Fired, So I Gave Up

Male Romance | Fated Pairing | Monster Hunting | Mystery | Drama

Zhongli Quan × Lü Dongbin. A fan novel based on the film The Eight Immortals. It won’t retell the film’s plot, though some dialogue will be referenced. Think of it as a new story. If that’s not your thing, don’t read.

Who would’ve thought being an immortal meant working nine to nine, six days a week,

with the boss not even paying into the employees’ social insurance?

Even more surprising, being an immortal wasn’t a guaranteed lifetime job!

New Heavenly Court regulations: departmental restructuring.

The Eight Immortals were given the flattering excuse of “vacation,” and could no longer use their powers.

Zhongli Quan wanted to tell his junior brother the news in person, but his brother had disappeared.

A group of unemployed immortals set out to find Lü Dongbin.

Good news: they found him. Bad news: he had amnesia.

All he remembered was that he had to exterminate demons, uphold justice, and save the people.

Zhongli Quan: “Junior brother, demons can’t even cultivate into spirits these days. The world is perfectly peaceful.”

Lü Dongbin wouldn’t listen, so an overworked workaholic dragged a lazy slacker along on a fantastic journey.
