When they first met in the first year of high school, a gardenia branch crashed into his arms, and also into her entire youth.
She thought he was naturally cold and treated everyone the same. The flowers on the window sill, the candies on the corner of the table, he didn't say anything, and she couldn't believe anything.
After he was divided into classes in his second year of high school and separated by two floors, he became more proactive. The menu gets longer and longer, sycamore leaves are tucked into the pages of the book, and the breakfast delivered to the door of the liberal arts class never stops.
The day the misunderstanding was resolved, she realized that those things she thought were "all the same" were always only for her.
After the shutter of the graduation photo clicked, he stood under the gardenia tree, looked at her and said:
"Jiang Zhao, I like you."
"I've liked you since the first day of high school."
She smiled and said, "I know. I've been waiting for your words for three years."
