The Human Heart Is Unfathomable

Human hearts are treacherous and hard to read. You never know what the people who seem closest to you are thinking behind your back. Zhang Weixing, the Party secretary of Lai County, is determined to develop the local economy and lift the people out of poverty. But his partner, County Magistrate Wang Panfeng, is eager to take his place as Party secretary. To Zhang Weixing's face, Wang is all smiles and follows his every instruction. Behind his back, however, he constantly throws obstacles in his way, doing everything he can to drive him from his post. He even teams up with his own uncle to create all kinds of trouble, going so far as to abuse public authority to make false accusations and persecute Zhang. In the end, though, Zhang Weixing manages to overcome every scheme.
