Lingering Heat

In this city, where everything is measured in heat, people's worth is written on rankings, and life and death are entered into ledgers.

Chen Jin has hidden his true nature for twelve years as a D-rank repairman, but within him lies a fire powerful enough to burn down an entire street. Shen Ji is an F-rank morgue attendant whose test results read zero, yet he can draw residual heat from both the dead and the living.

An uncontrollable incident exposes both their secrets at once. One needs someone to catch the flames when he loses control; the other needs a fire to burn open sealed records.

From missing living people and dead people still collecting rations to falsified test records, they follow one disconnected document after another, gradually reaching the furnace at the very heart of the city.

Fire can burn away memories, and cold can steal your sense of touch.

But as long as one person remembers, the other has not truly disappeared.
