[Twelve-year age gap, a womanizing playboy, an amnesiac good girl, a fatherly boyfriend]
Shen Yan, thirty-one, single, and a hopeless womanizer.
He brought a nineteen-year-old ditzy girl home from the police station. She had amnesia, too.
“Why do you only remember me?”
“Because you said I had to call you Dad when I saw you.”
He had brought this on himself with his rebellious antics at seventeen. He could only accept it.
He thought it would just mean setting an extra place at the table.
But she…
Woke him before dawn, shaking his bed. “Shen Yan, I’m hungry.”
Crawled into his bed in the middle of the night. “Shen Yan, I’m scared.”
She sat beside him while he flirted with women, and followed him whenever he went out.
After three months of this, everyone laughed. “Master Yan, you’re never getting rid of your ‘daughter.’”
He complained that she was a nuisance, but when she turned over at night, he instinctively pulled the blanket over her.
Later, she regained her memories.
Her family came to get her. Her fiancé came to hold her.
Shen Yan stood in the doorway, watching her get into the car without looking back.
The villa behind him was so empty he could hear the echo. On the table in front of him was the lopsided heart she had drawn.
Beneath it was a line in neat handwriting, clear and composed in tone:
“Shen Yan, thank you for putting up with me those three months.”
He clutched the paper all night. When his friend came by the next day, he saw that Shen Yan had stuck the lopsided heart above his bed.
A month later, Shen Yan stood outside her building, shouting so loudly the whole street could hear:
“Su Momo! Didn’t you call me Dad?”
“Dad’s here to chase you!”
When he finally won her over, she asked him through red-rimmed eyes, “What do you want to be to me now?”
Shen Yan pulled her into his arms, his voice hoarse beyond recognition.
“Your husband.”
