Every night at midnight, a station that doesn’t exist appears in some corner of the city.
Ji Xun, a former forensic pathologist whose license was revoked, finds a train ticket in the pocket of an unidentified corpse while investigating the case. It doesn’t belong to any railway system. And another ticket has appeared in his own pocket.
At the stroke of midnight, he is dragged onto the platform against his will and boards a green train that has no final destination.
Each stop is a strange, eerie world, and every station has an iron sign engraved with rules in blood-red letters:
“Do not look in a mirror after dark.”
“Do not answer when someone calls you by your full name.”
“If you see a red-uniformed conductor, close your eyes immediately.”
“Do not look back before reaching the final stop.”
Those who fail to follow the rules are trapped on the platform forever.
A ghost wedding in an abandoned village, a deserted morgue, a sunken ship underwater, a hotel inside a mirror… With a forensic pathologist’s composure and expertise, Ji Xun escapes death at one horrifying station after another. But when he gathers thirteen fragments of station signs and finally makes out the name of the “final stop”…
The train announcement rings out: “Next stop: Sleep Station. Passengers, please prepare.”
It is the name of his younger sister, who died thirteen years ago.
The train’s final destination was never a station at all.
It is a farewell that came thirteen years too late.
“At midnight, the platform appears. Board with a ticket, and ask not where the journey ends.”
